The Corporate Development team at JP Morgan Chase is broadly responsible for strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and investments across the firm's consumer lines of business - including the Consumer Bank, Business Bank, Wealth Management, Card Services, Connected Commerce, Home Lending, and Auto Lending. Corporate Development is at the heart of many of the most important strategic and business decisions at Chase and these partnerships are critical to the firm's ability to execute on its core strategies and meet the needs of our customers in a rapidly changing financial services ecosystem.
As a Vice President in Corporate Development Commerce, you will focus on identifying and negotiating strategic partnerships for Chase's Shopping, Experiences, Gift Cards, and Pay with Points platforms. Chase seeks to become a leading player in the Shopping space, innovating new commerce journeys to bring unique value to our customers. To support this vision, we work hand in hand with the product teams to negotiate ground-breaking partnerships that will boost consumer engagement. In addition, Chase continues to heavily invest in Loyalty redemption channels and Experiences for our customers, incentivizing consumers to keep Chase cards top of mind and wallet. Our team leads all partnerships, acquisitions and investments tied to the Ultimate Rewards Gift Cards, Pay with Points and Experiences.
We are looking for experienced individuals passionate around the commerce space for this role. You must be able to think strategically, build and leverage relationships across various lines of business, and find ways to manage, execute and deliver on key partnerships. You will provide innovative, forward-thinking ideas, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment alongside senior leaders across the bank to build and deliver partnerships that drive Chase forward. Establishing these partnerships requires careful strategic consideration and we are looking for a smart, dynamic person who can deliver at Chase.
Job Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally within Chase and JPMC and with external partners to identify, negotiate, and execute key partnerships that drive business results and support the business strategy
Collaboratively develop partnership strategy with the lines of business, including identifying key elements of the strategy, completing analysis, and making recommendation
Develop and help deliver specific partner proposals with the lines of business, including overall vision, partnership economics, and product integration
Work in conjunction with finance, legal, risk, control, compliance and other functional partners to develop financial business case, deal constructs, and other key terms associated with partnership
Monitor external environment for important competitive developments and potential partnership opportunities and communicate more broadly to key line of business partners as necessary
Ensure all deals and business development is executed in accordance with policies, controls, key functional partners, and Corporate Development procedures
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
7+ years industry experience across financial services/banking and commerce
BS degree or equivalent experience required
Must have significant partnership, strategic alliance, or deal execution experience and/or strategy and/or consulting experience
Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills - ability to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues at all levels and achieve goals without direct control over resources
A high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
Must have experience formulating business strategy, including structuring problems, completing analysis, and making recommendations
Must have project management experience in a cross-functional environment
Deep analytical skills including understanding of common financial statements and ability to build financial models in Excel
Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate to senior internal and external stakeholders
Sense of urgency with disposition to execute and a demonstrated career of successful partnership and/or deal execution
Proven exceptional relationship building skills
Proven experience in working across departments and lines of business within large organizations
