Job Description**
The mission of the Inver Hills Community College (IHCC) food service/coffee shop operation is to provide a convenient, affordable, healthy, and efficient source for food and beverages on campus for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of IHCC. This position will provide services for necessary for operations, including, but not limited to menu/recipe development; pricing decisions; inventory controls; preparation and service of all food items; ordering of all food and beverages, kitchen and service supplies, and cleaning supplies necessary for the smooth operation of the coffee shop.
This position is responsible for training all student employees in appropriate standards. They ensure that cleanliness standards are continuously maintained per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. The position requires ServSafe licensing. They also will assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the food service seating areas, including the cleanup of food and beverages served to customers. The position will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of all kitchen and coffee shop equipment and will request service as needed. The position will also manage campus catering events ordered through the coffee shop.
Salary Range:
We would like to clarify that the correct salary range for the Cook Coordinator position is $22.40 - $30.89 / Hour; $46,771 - $64,498/ Year. We encourage you to reach out to our office if you have any questions.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience as a cook in a large restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, or equivalent experience in large volume cooking and food preparation; or completion of a 9- month or longer full-time vocational/technical school program in commercial cooking or commercial food preparation. (Completion of a 9 month or longer vocational/technical school program in commercial baking will substitute for 6 months of experience as a cook, as listed above.)
OR
Three years experience as a baker in a commercial bakery, large restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, or equivalent experience in large volume baking.
Preferred Qualification
ServSafe certification. (Ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
Previous retail food service and menu development; including, but not limited to, using cash registers, pricing of items, invoicing, troubleshooting equipment issues, and inventory.
Experience with purchasing, marketing, and display of items.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.
Ability to work effectively in a busy environment, while providing direction to a team.
Skills in Customer service sufficient to (1) perform duties described above with courtesy, respect, and interest in positive problem solving; (2) promptly respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook.
Physical Requirements
Requires daily moving and/or transporting things (such as supplies, food, beverages, equipment, etc.) weighing up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity of hands and fingers is essential.
