Description of Job
Organizational Purpose
The Brand Inspection Division is responsible for inspecting all cattle, horses, mules, burros and alternative livestock when there is a change of ownership of the animals or they are transported over 75 miles from their home location, are transported to a location outside Colorado, or are transported to slaughter. In addition, the Division administers Colorado's approximately 32,000 registered livestock brands, licenses public livestock markets, certified feedlots and alternative livestock facilities, presides over the sale of stray livestock, compiles and distributes information concerning missing or stolen livestock, and collects brand inspection and other fees and assessments owed to the Division, the Colorado Beef Council, and the Colorado Horse Development Authority.
Major Objectives of the Position
The position is responsible for reconciling and entering country inspection reports for four inspection areas and reconciling and entering sale barn reports for three public livestock markets. Position is responsible for scanning documents to the Division's databases, responding to customer questions at the counter, on the telephone, and by email, and opening incoming mail. Position is responsible for maintaining the Division's informational brochures concerning brands and branding, alternative livestock, and fence law issues. This position understands and implements the OIT requirements for digital accessibility as appropriate for the role.
Primary Duties
Country Certificates/ Permits/Reports
Review, reconcile and enter brand inspectors country certificates, permits and reports into the Division Brandscan Database.
Livestock Sales
Position reviews and reconciles livestock market sales reports, dock cards and inspection fees submitted by the inspectors to the Brand office
Brands Research/Administration
Position researches new brand applications and advises customers concerning procedures governing brand applications, recording brands, brand transfers, reinstatement of canceled brands, brand payments, and brand assessments. Position assists brand inspectors in identifying record brand owners.

Minimum Qualification:Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Three (3) years of high level experience in administrative support in an office setting
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience as administrative support in an office setting equal to three (3) years
Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience working for the State of Colorado.
Conditions of Employment:
