Summary This position serves as an Inventory Manager in the Commodity Management Division of the Supply Chain Management Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System and supported catchment area, with responsibility for the inventory management of all expendable supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) in the assigned area(s). Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Inventory Management and Control: Manages and controls an assigned class of expendable material for a VA HCS and supported catchment area. Recognize authority on expendable (EX) commodity management and serves as a subject matter expert to all services and service lines. Make decisions and commitments for the medical center on medical/surgical supplies that materially affect the VA HCS. Perform analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate, or otherwise exercise control over EX supplies. Conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition, and sensitive equipment. Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization: Implements federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; Coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies; Makes emergent procurement decisions; and participates in root cause analysis process Performs other related duties as assigned Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level, GS-9 without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Physical Requirements: Involves a mix of working in an office environment to working in a warehouse to assist in processing new equipment receipts and entering into the Ell. A great amount of time walking and climbing stairs is required to conduct on-site inventories of Equipment Inventory List equipment. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is required when receiving new equipment at the facility and preparing for the sale of excess property.
