This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Taylor Correctional Institution in the Warden's Office.
The mission statement of an Administrative Assistant in the Warden's Office at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide exceptional administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Warden's Office. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity. Our goal is to facilitate clear communication, streamline administrative processes, and support the Warden in achieving the department's objectives of safety, security, and rehabilitation. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
Provides administrative assistance to the Warden by researching data, preparing reports, and making independent conclusions.
Reviews, analyzes, and drafts interoffice memorandums, correspondence, and confidential material for the Warden's approval.
Interacts with the public and staff courteously, responds to questions, and interprets rules and policies.
Maintains the Warden's calendar, coordinates scheduling for events, and compiles data for bi-weekly and monthly reports.
Manages daily mail, answers telephone calls professionally, takes meeting minutes, and maintains office files securely.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum of two years of clerical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a correctional setting.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
