Secretary- Part Time, Provisional (Dean of Health Sciences) SUNY Broome Community College is seeking candidates for a part-time, temporary, Secretary in the Health Sciences Division office. The Secretary reports to the Health Sciences Office Manager and the Dean of Health Sciences. This appointment is Provisional, pending satisfactory completion of the Civil Service testing requirement. This position is represented by the ESPA bargaining unit. This in-person role offers a steady Monday-Friday work schedule from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility built in, not to exceed 22.5 hours per week. The part-time Secretary provides administrative support to the Divisional Chairpersons and the Dean of Health Sciences. This position also assists departments within the Division as needed, handling telecommunications, office supplies, and support for faculty and students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serves as one of the first persons of contact for students, faculty, staff, visitors to the building; greets, provides directions, answers questions. Support for students as initial office contact which may include collection of clinical paperwork, and fees and directing students to appropriate contacts/resources. Operates various communication systems such as telephones and computers, and keeps records of such communications. Collects data, takes meeting minutes, prepares agendas and meeting materials under the direction of faculty and/or the Dean; secures required documentation for various departments within the Health Sciences Office. Assists with all duties as part of student onboarding. May include, scheduling of classes & clinical assignments, registration, scheduling of advising sessions and department orientations. Organization and tracking of office supplies. Requirements: A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in office technologies, office administration or administrative assistant or closely related field and two (2) years of typing and clerical experience in an office setting which included the use of computer applications to maintain records and produce correspondence; OR B) Four (4) years of typing and clerical experience in an office setting which included the use of computer applications to maintain records and produce correspondence; OR C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A) and B) above. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. Additional Information: The hourly rate for this position is $22.44.
