Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Manistee, Michigan. In this role, you will work closely with the Controller to support the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance in accounting processes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, budgeting, and operational efficiency while enhancing your expertise.

Responsibilities:

Process accounts payable invoices accurately and in a timely manner to maintain smooth operations.

Generate and manage accounts receivable invoices, ensuring all required documentation is complete.

Apply cash receipts to customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies or documentation issues.

Set up suppliers and customers in the system after verifying necessary paperwork is in order.

Maintain up-to-date 1099 vendor information to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

Assist the Controller in preparing financial reviews and reports for management decision-making.

Support month-end closing procedures by ensuring all tasks are completed within deadlines.

Monitor and analyze inventory data weekly, providing insights and reports on findings.

Help prepare and review budget proposals, compiling necessary supporting documentation.

Assist with external audits by providing requested documentation and ensuring compliance. Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or related financial roles.

Proficiency in corporate tax processes and sales tax compliance.

Strong knowledge of journal entries, general ledger management, and month-end close procedures.

Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable operations.

Ability to analyze inventory data and contribute to cost management strategies.

Familiarity with budgeting processes and preparing financial reports.

Understanding of internal controls to ensure accurate and compliant financial operations.

Ability to support audit processes and maintain accurate records.
