Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, performing reconciliations, and supporting compliance-related activities. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to resolve complex accounting challenges.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and verify financial and statistical records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Maintain subsidiary ledgers and perform account reconciliations to uphold data integrity.

Investigate discrepancies in accounts, create adjusting journal entries, and ensure proper documentation.

Manage and organize files and records using digital tools, ensuring audit trails are consistently maintained.

Analyze financial data and generate reports that reflect the organization's financial health and performance.

Evaluate complex transactions, recommend corrective actions, and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Resolve advanced accounting issues to maintain compliance and accurate reporting.

Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and clarifying accounting procedures.

Assist with year-end audits and ensure adherence to established accounting standards.

Train staff on accounting practices, regulations, and procedures to promote consistency and accuracy. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent educational background.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting roles with progressively increasing responsibilities.

Proficiency in accounting software and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Strong attention to detail coupled with the ability to analyze and address discrepancies effectively.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

Experience with complex reconciliations and audit preparation is advantageous.

Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to support collaborative work.

Solid understanding of journal entries and general ledger management.
