JOB REQUIREMENTS: CITATION/CRIMINAL TRAFFIC CLERK DUTIES Monitors compliance with Underage drinking classes and/or online classes for minors in possession program requirements, sets for hearing if noncompliant and if in compliance, forwards orders for dismissal to the court for signature. Enters appropriate financial codes when closing cases and ensures money applies correctly Prepares orders for alcohol assessment delivering to proper assessment facility. Downloads and processes electronic citations and enters manual citations. Checks for errors and contacts issuing officer if corrections are needed Prepares traffic, calendar for the court officers and the court Closes out bi-weekly traffic calendar, and stipulated cases Schedules pre-trials, adjourned initial appearances, status conferences, and sends out notices ensuring the notices have accurate information on how to appear by zoom (if required) Provides information to the public regarding occupational driver\'s licenses, alcohol assessment, Underage Drinking Programs, and Ignition Interlock Devise requirements Maintains an excellent working relationship with all law enforcement agencies/officers to ensure all citations are received timely and any necessary changes/amendments are made Stays current in laws regarding operating while intoxicated, operating after revocation/suspension violations, and appropriate suspensions and/or revocations required Sends citation and criminal traffic disposition information to the Department of Transportation Compile list/email of citation dispositions to news media weekly Checks DOT website monthly to ensure cases are being reported accurately Forfeits bonds in accordance with court order Advises Judge of pending decisions Prepares yearly calendar for civil traffic and criminal pretrial dates, status conferences forwards to all agencies. RESTRAINING ORDERS Assists the public with filing all @types of restraining orders Ensures prompt attention in processing restraining orders Reviews petitions for completeness prior to submitting to a Judge or Court Commissioner Timely enters temporary restraining orders on the computer with proper court record events Ensures prompt disbursement to law enforcement for service, and assists petitioners with information for service on out of county respondents and Vine Link information Clerks restraining order hearings, promptly disburses orders for in court service, or by law enforcement If needed, prepares paperwork for firearm restriction hearings, and service by law enforcement Tracks expiration dates of restraining orders ** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of laws regarding operating while intoxicated, operating after revocation/suspension violations, and suspension and/or revocations ordered on cases Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures Knowledge of legal forms and terminology Knowledge preferred in Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent communication skills, enjoy working with the public and have the ability to work well while under stress Bookkeeping skills Typing and calculator skills Ability to work in a professional manner with attorneys to check on status of cases and schedule for necessary court hearings Ability to accurately prepare and maintain up-dated detailed records Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative Ability to read and interpret documents, and laws in the English language Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas in spoken and written format so individuals may effectively understand and convey communications Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Inductive and deductive reasoning ability to combine separate pieces of information, or specific answers to problems, to form general rules or conclusions; includes coming up with a logical explanation for why a series of seemingly unrelated events occur together and deciding if an answer makes sense ** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: www.co.jackson.wi.us
