Overview

Delivers expert and technically proficient, scientifically based nursing care to sexual assault patients. Performs medical/forensic exams, collects evidence, and provides trauma informed care for these patients under the supervision of the Child Adversity Resilience and ED/Urgent Care Physician. Is an active participant in professional activities, such as quality improvement projects/teams, research/publishing, in-service presentations, etc. Acts as subject matter expert within Children's Mercy and in collaboration with community partners.

If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

Performs the forensic/medical exam in cases of alleged sexual abuse under the supervision of the Child Adversity and Resilience and/or ED and/or Providers in collaboration with the healthcare team.

Meets the educational needs of the patient, family and staff, utilizing principles of teaching/learning

Delivers therapeutic, safe and efficient care

Attends education programs, unit meetings, peer review and maintains mandatory certifications.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree Nursing Required and

1-2 years experience

pediatric nursing or

Bachelor's Degree preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013.

Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date and

1-2 years experience

One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire

One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire

RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO

Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $34.43/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
