Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Mill Programmer / Setup / Machinist to support Mechanical R&D builds for ophthalmic instrumentation development. This hands-on role requires expertise in CNC programming, setup, and machining to produce high-quality proto@type components with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Support R&D proto@type builds for ophthalmic instrumentation.
Program CNC mills using Surfcam or Mastercam , including surfacing operations.
Perform full machine setup, operation, and first-piece inspections with minimal supervision.
Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and drawings with full knowledge of GD&T .
Collaborate directly with engineers to implement design modifications and improvements.
Machine materials including stainless steel, steel, aluminum, and plastics.
Maintain tight tolerances (typically ±0.002") and ensure consistent part quality.
Generate first article products for inspection and adjust programming as necessary.
Adhere to safety and quality standards while maintaining attention to detail.
Work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
10-15 years of experience on proto@type Okuma mills (preferred).
10+ years of experience with Surfcam or Mastercam programming.
Proven ability to balance programming, setup, and machining tasks.
Strong blueprint interpretation and inspection skills.
Positive attitude and excellent attention to detail.
