Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Coatesville VA Medical Center Primary Care Service is recruiting a Physician to provide medical care at the Main Campus in the acute inpatient mental health and Residential Rehab Treatment Program (RRTP)/ Domiciliary program. This Physician may be asked to cover Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Primary Care as needed during staffing shortages. The duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but is not limited to the following: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for Veterans in the RRTP program, addressing the unique rehabilitation needs of each patient. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to RRTP patients. Participate in weekly RRTP team meetings to discuss patient progress, updates, and modifications to treatment plans. Provide medication management and adjustments for RRTP patients based on their evolving needs and responses to treatments. Conduct educational workshops focusing on clinical and health promotion topics relevant to the RRTP population. Monitor and document patient progress, addressing any barriers to rehabilitation and providing interventions to achieve treatment goals. Engage in discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition for RRTP patients returning to the community or moving to other levels of care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the RRTP program's effectiveness and outcomes. Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services for patients in the RRTP as needed. Ensure compliance with VA policies and regulations specific to residential rehabilitation programs. Assures clinical care provided meets all timelines and required documentation as required by VA Reviews alerts daily and have no more than 100 alerts at any given time. Conduct appropriate preventative screens and diagnostic tests. Provide appropriate disposition of identified health care problems. Participate in Primary Care multidisciplinary activities. Involve Veterans in shared decision making in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Demonstrate medical expertise in diagnosing and treating multi-symptoms. Adhere to local policies, procedures and directives related to timeliness of documentation and encounters for verification of patient visits, findings and medical recommendations in the electronic medical record. Use Computerized Patient Record System to review and update patient's electronic medical record Serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Coatesville VAMC each month, rotating schedule with frequency ranging from 1-3 times per month. Participate in quality improvement functions such as peer reviews, committees, etc. as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. May include extended hours or an occasional evening and/or Saturday based on patient needs. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision.
