Location: Onsite, San Mateo, CA

Duration: Contract Position

Company Overview:

A growing residential property management company in San Mateo is seeking a skilled Property Accountant with expertise in Yardi software. This is a fully onsite position requiring availability Monday through Friday, offering an excellent opportunity to join a team committed to delivering top-tier accounting services for its residential portfolio.

Position Summary:

The Property Accountant will play a vital role in managing the accounting functions for multiple residential properties. This role will require detailed knowledge of property-related accounting practices, proficiency in Yardi software, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily accounting operations for residential properties, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL) entries, and financial reporting.

Utilize Yardi software for property management accounting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing transactions and generating reports.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.

Maintain accurate records of tenant payments, including rent collections, deposits, and fees, ensuring proper reconciliation.

Assist with the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts for residential properties.

Monitor variances between budgets and actuals, providing recommendations for improvement where necessary.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies while keeping up to date with relevant regulations for residential property accounting.

Collaborate with property management teams to resolve tenant discrepancies and audit financial statements related to properties.

Provide insights and solutions to enhance the efficiency of accounting practices and reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, specifically within residential property accounting.

Proficiency in Yardi software is required.

Solid understanding and experience with real estate accounting principles (preferably in residential properties).

Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with property tax and compliance matters.

Excellent analytical skills, with a detail-oriented and problem-solving approach.

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with tenants, property managers, and internal stakeholders.

Ability to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo.
