Summary The Transportation Assistant/Enrollment Coordinator is assigned to the Eligibility & Enrollment section of the Business Office. Responsibilities Major duties include: Responsible for the administrative processes for Veterans applying for VA health care benefits. Determines qualifying entitlements for health care and other VA benefits. Assists with health care benefit questions. Works daily with all levels of the organization and with Veterans and their representatives. Must be a strong communicator both verbally and in writing. Must be able to work independently with multiple tasks at the same time. Ability to build strong working relationships across the health care system. Excellent computer skills; send/receive emails, create/edit Word and Excel documents, and access various other systems to process applications. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. The incumbent works directly with the public, clerical and professional staff of the Medical Center. The incumbent observes established safety standards and practices as defined in the current Medical Center policy. Incumbent occasionally will attend meetings and obligations at other locations.
