Our non-profit client in Livermore is seeking an interim Accounting Manager for a clean-up project. This role is ideal for someone with excellent Excel skills and the ability to clear a significant backlog. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing reconciliations, and streamlining processes to bring the organization's financials up to date. This role requires work onsite 5 days/week and is expected to pay $60-$65/hr. DOE.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage month-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records

Perform detailed reconciliations of accounts, including deferred revenue, prepaids, and fixed assets

Manage the general ledger and prepare journal entries to support accurate reporting

Coordinate and support financial statement audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis

Utilize advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, including import/export functions and pivot tables

Allocate labor costs and shared expenses across multiple entities with backup documentation

Collaborate with the team to ensure payroll and grant reporting requirements are met

Develop and implement strategies to streamline accounting operations and improve efficiency

Maintain clear and precise documentation for all financial activities and processes

Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting clerks, fostering a cohesive and effective team environment

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles

Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data import/export

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations

Experience with month-end close processes and financial audits

Familiarity with deferred revenue, prepaids, and fixed asset accounting

Ability to manage complex allocations of labor costs and shared services

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely
