Summary You will serve as an Electronics Mechanic in the Port Operations Division of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA. Responsibilities You will adjust equipment (e.g., volt meters, ohm meters, field strength meters) to maintain working order. You will use test equipment to diagnose and repair electronic systems (e.g., transmitters, receivers, subassemblies, control devices, antennas, radar display power supplies). You will conduct inspections to diagnose and plan work sequences to expedite repair of electronic equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Inspects and performs operation test to determine components causing malfunctions or invalid readings; 2) Sets up and operates computer controlled automatic test equipment to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment; 3) Prepares reports on electrical equipment repairs and test; 4) Installs and applies tests and repairs. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
