About this Job
It is the mission of theLouisiana Office of Tourism to market and promote Louisiana as a travel destination to in-state, domestic, and international visitors. The Louisiana Office of Tourism employs a variety of initiatives to accomplish this mission. It implements broad-based advertising campaigns, sponsors special events, conducts sales missions into many domestic and international marketplaces and contracts with international representatives in several foreign countries.
These initiatives promote economic growth and employment opportunities through increased number of visitors and visitor spending across the state. To accomplish this mission, the Louisiana Office of Tourism seeks a highly qualified, independent, and self-starting employee who can manage complex responsibilities, pay great attention to details, and has knowledge of the Louisiana music industry, its importance to the promotion of Louisiana and ways in which the many music genres should be preserved and marketed around the world.
This position will develop theLouisiana Music Trail andMusic Marketing Program within the Louisiana Office of Tourism to serve as a central hub for promoting and preserving the state's vibrant musical heritage, attracting visitors, supporting aspiring music professionals, and fostering the long-term sustainability and innovation of the music industry.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in tourism, marketing, public relations, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Support the preservation of Louisiana's iconic genes through technical assistance, support, and connecting projects to funding for music projects.
Provide technical assistance, support, and connect cultural events and festivals to resources.
Independently represents the state at consumer/trade shows and sales missions to promote tourism.
Leads lower-level staff in marketing activities while on-site.
Conducts complex marketing research activities and develops sales messages for individual clients.
Assists lower-level representatives as needed.
Leads the organization and implementation of large-scale special events to promote Louisiana as a tourist destination.
Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies with tour representatives, convention and visitors bureaus, and other stakeholders.
Collects and maintains data on sales leads to attract tour groups and expand into new markets.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Career Progression: This position in part of a Career Progression Group and can be filled as a Tourism Marketing Representative 1, 2, or 3based on qualifications.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
