As a Global Portfolio Leader, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.
Sets and drives the strategic direction for the global Tapes & Electrical Supplies portfolios (PC2310) to ensure long-term growth, innovation, and brand/product vitality. Anchored deep in customer and market insight, the GPL aligns portfolio strategy, innovation, and commercialization across geographies to deliver sustainable value. The role balances strategic foresight with near-term execution, guiding cross-functional and regional teams through influence, collaboration, and disciplined prioritization.
Here, you will make an impact by:
Portfolio Strategy and Management: Develop and drive the global portfolio strategy, aligned to division priorities. Own portfolio health and long-term performance by investing in growth opportunities, rationalizing SKUs, and managing product lifecycles.
P&L Management: Manage portfolio economics and tradeoffs with a profit-and-loss perspective, balancing growth investments with structural profitability.
Innovation and Commercialization: Own the global NPI pipeline, connecting customer insights and market trends to deliver sustainable growth. Define the long-term vision for innovation and lead pipeline execution globally.
Customer & Market Insight: Champion the voice of the customer and competitive landscape, ensuring portfolio and innovation choices reflect external needs and future trends.
Brand and Pricing Strategy: Define global brand positioning and pricing strategy to drive competitiveness and value creation, ensuring consistency across markets and channels.
Leadership and Collaboration: Lead through influence, aligning cross-functional and regional teams, navigating complex stakeholders, and driving focus on the initiatives that create the most impact.
People Leadership: Develops the next layer(s) of GLPs, ensuring they have the exposure, experience, and skill building needed to take on GPL roles of increasing scope and responsibility.

Technical Fluencies
Portfolio economics and pricing governance: Knows how to interpret price/mix/margin drivers, apply guardrails, and escalate deviations with a clear point of view on value creation.
NPI/Stage-Gate and portfolio lifecycle: Can evaluate which projects to accelerate, pivot, or stop, and how to allocate resources across the pipeline to sustain long-term portfolio health.
Customer and market insight methods: Can access and interrogate data sources, translate insights into choices, and ask the right questions of experts.
Brand architecture and channel/ecommerce dynamics: Knows how to position brands/products globally while adapting to local needs, and how to rebalance portfolio or investment choices in response to changing market/industry dynamics.
Supply chain footprint basics: Partners with ESC to weigh asset, cost, and location trade-offs, and can adjust portfolio or sourcing strategies when supply constraints threaten performance.
Tools literacy: leverages tools like Power BI, RPM, or 3M Grow to synthesize insights, track performance, and direct the work of analysts without being the technical builder.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (completed and verified prior to start)
Seven (7) years' combined experience in Global Portfolio Management, Product Marketing, and/or Business Management in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
MBA from an accredited institution.
Strong track record of collaboration and cross-functional teamwork.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Demonstrated success in business strategy, operational marketing, business analytics, customer negotiations, price management, and leadership by influence.
Work location:
Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Austin Center or 3M St Paul Center.
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic /International
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
