Overview
The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations
Technician II. This position is responsible for various tasks related to
highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush,
patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. In the winter
months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and
overtime may be required. Additionally, this position may assist in
vehicle and equipment maintenance.

This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to
\$2000! Newly hired CDL and non-CDL holders who are hired into permanent
maintenance worker or mechanic job on or after July 13, 2025 are

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, new hires
are typically made at the salary range minimum.

Environmental Factors
Duties require the ability to withstand exposure to extreme outdoor
weather. An incumbent must be available for considerable overtime during
heavy snowfall or other emergencies. Employees may be required to report
to work outside of their work schedule/ area and must be reachable by
phone. An employee must be able to use tools and lift materials commonly
used in maintenance work. Normal dangers associated with work on or near
heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and debris from roadside litter
are present. May be exposed to blood or airborne pathogens. Hazards are
always present when working on roads with moving traffic. Participation
in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required. Considerable
overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is
considered a condition of employment.
