Job Title: Medical Secretary

Job Description

The Medical Secretary provides essential support to both the physician and patients by managing communications, preparing medical charts, and organizing documents within the EMR system. The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative personnel.

Responsibilities

Answer patient calls and take detailed messages for the physician.

Send out new patient packets and remind patients to request their previous medical records before their first appointment.

Schedule and confirm appointments, including entering patient demographic information and mailing out necessary paperwork.

Examine future schedules to ensure availability for routine and urgent visits.

Send reminder letters for primary care and chronic care needs as well as routine and preventative care.

Process outgoing referrals and enter them in the Medent log.

Send clinical and demographic patient data to referral specialists and track responses.

Obtain records and ensure referrals are received from patient's PCP for specialty appointments.

Essential Skills

Experience with healthcare and medical front desk operations.

Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Strong customer service skills and experience with insurance verification.

Minimum of a high school diploma.

1+ years of experience as a Medical Receptionist.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to work with minimal supervision and comfortable working independently.

Work Environment

The position is based in a rheumatology office with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Candidates will be required to work with minimal supervision and should be comfortable working independently. Once permanent, employees are eligible for healthcare, vision, and dental insurance. After one year of employment, 401K options become available. The company offers opportunities for growth and has a presence with 40 locations across Westchester/Putnam.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fishkill, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.50/hr.
