Job Summary
The pickup, delivery, loading, unloading, recycling, and shelving of surplus property within the scope of the University Surplus and Salvage (Surplus) mission. The completion of paperwork involved in the disposition of the surplus property and or completion of computer records or files involved in the disposition of surplus property. Inspect and drive trucks and a forklift. CDL not required. Lead work while picking up university property from various university departments and lead work in the disposal of property. Help with customer service, sales, and the maintenance of the surplus warehouse. Complete other tasks as assigned by management or supervisors.
The successful completion of a criminal background check and drug test required.

Responsibilities
Receives, delivers and picks up surplus property from university departments. Verifies accuracy of orders received versus records of department. Assists departments in completing forms. Verify stock meets specifications and resolves order problems with departments. Keeps track of orders to ensure merchandise is delivered to appropriate locations or picked up from appropriate locations. Enters order information into the computer system. Sort and price property received and place in warehouse for sale, sort to recycling, sort to electronic recycling or sort to EHS . Management will train and help with sorting and pricing. May help customers in Surplus Store. May be trained on cash register as backup for other cashiers. Will help customers purchase equipment and supplies. May perform minor repairs on property. Ensures quality of materials or material handling equipment is consistent with departments needs. Maintains and conducts inventory of property at Surplus. May train and assign work to part-time employees. Aid in the destruction and record keeping of data devices per University of Utah requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Requires 5+ years of related experience.
Preferences
A valid Utah Drivers required.
A clean driving record preferred.
Four years shipping and receiving/stockroom experience, or equivalency, with preferably at least two years supervisory experience; the ability to routinely move or manipulate heavy objects; a knowledge of standard warehousing procedures; demonstrated human relations skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.
