Senior Accountant

Job Description

As a Senior Accountant, you will prepare monthly general journal entries and provide accounting and analytical support during the month-end close process. You will perform account analyses and provide variance explanations for quarterly reviews and annual audits. The role requires applying accounting principles to analyze financial information for the preparation of financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. You will investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities, prepare account reconciliations including prepaids and accruals, and review the work of staff accountants for accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities

Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

Ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate recording of financial information.

Assist management with special projects such as the implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and controls.

Evaluate and streamline processes to create efficiencies within the Operations/General Accounting department.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Strong understanding and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

Attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task and work extra hours during month end close and as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

CPA certification is a plus.

Master's/MBA degree is a plus.

Experience in public accounting and the private sector is a plus.

Experience with PeopleSoft software or large company ERP systems is a plus.

Work Environment

The role involves reporting to a manager and may require working extra hours during month-end close and as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Miami, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.
