Aetna is seeking a strategic and results-driven Executive Director to lead sales and account management functions across its Commercial Segments-including Middle Market and Key Accounts-in the Georgia/ Gulf States region. This role is responsible for setting direction, driving performance, and solving complex challenges that impact enterprise-wide sales operations.
The Executive Director will develop and execute strategies to grow market share, enhance client relationships, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Success in this role requires strong leadership, a strategic mindset, and the ability to influence across a matrixed environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Establishes and communicates operational strategy and performance metrics aligned with company, segment, and market goals.
Leads long-term strategic planning and execution for aligned departments.
Collaborates with senior leaders to drive business strategy, key initiatives, and achievement of sales, growth, retention, and profitability targets.
Builds and maintains critical relationships across Sales, Service, Product Development, and Marketing to resolve complex business challenges and influence outcomes.
Applies deep understanding of market dynamics, competition, and regulatory trends to anticipate and meet emerging needs.
Maintains strong external relationships with producers, plan sponsors, providers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
Identifies and influences key financial drivers to align with Aetna's strategic and economic goals.
Contributes to compensation strategy development to optimize sales performance and member retention.
Recruits, develops, and retains a diverse, high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and resource alignment.
Ensures resource allocation supports achievement of key performance indicators.
Partners across business segments to align on sales, distribution, and compensation strategies.
Leads strategic initiatives that impact financial and operational outcomes.
Negotiates internally to ensure resource alignment and support for business priorities.
Ensures compliance with company policies and authorizes exceptions when appropriate.
Analyzes competitive intelligence to inform pricing, underwriting, product development, and service strategies.
Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders via phone and in-person meetings; travel will be required.
Drives cross-functional collaboration and contributes to the success of other teams and departments.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of the company's business, as well as significant interaction with all the business leaders. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:
12+ years of sales and account management experience with demonstrated leadership in sales strategy development and execution, accountability, and innovative sales approaches.
Direct and broker sales experience.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Experience leading and developing people, preferably leading managers. Proven team leadership experience - leadership skills to build high-performing teams, manage and develop talent, influence, and impact a broad set of stakeholders, engage, and inspire others, and lead by example. Ability to lead teams and drive performance in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
Experience working in a matrixed environment.
Must reside or be willing to relocate to Georgia.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$120,800.00 - $265,914.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
