Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Des Plaines, Illinois. This Contract-to-long-term position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, where you will manage general ledger activities, oversee cost accounting, and contribute to inventory management and budgeting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing and cost accounting.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure compliance with accounting standards and accuracy in financial reporting.

Analyze and monitor production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to support accurate product costing.

Oversee inventory accounting processes, including cycle counts, adjustments, and valuation.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.

Collaborate with the Controller to deliver necessary documentation and explanations during audits.

Support the monitoring and enhancement of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.

Contribute to the improvement of financial systems and processes in partnership with the Controller and IT team.

Process payroll using Ceridian software, ensuring accurate calculations, proper deductions, and compliance with payroll regulations. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

A minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting and inventory management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex financial issues.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
