Walking for long period of time; lifting of object up to 50 lbs.ShiftVarious shifts based on needs of department; rotating weekends, holidays and on-calls.Job SummaryThe Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children's Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position will be instrumental in maintaining a quality of service based on accuracy and timely result reporting. This position will be located in the Blood Bank, and testing will include, but is not limited to, @type and screen, cross-matching, antibody workup, elution, absorption, antibody tittering, neonatal workup, and component preparation. This CAP and AABB-Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
