Job Description
Individuals functioning in the capacity of Program Coordinator perform a host of functions. At the entry level as a trainee, the individual carries out a range of professional corrections program coordinator assignments while learning the methods of the work. At the intermediate level the individual performs an increasing range of professional corrections program coordinator assignments while continuing to learn the methods of the work. Individuals at the experienced level perform a full range of professional corrections program coordinator assignments in a full-functioning capacity. Typically, these individuals prepare all paperwork pertaining to the case history of the prisoner, including the risk factors and security classification forms, as well as program recommendation forms. Additionally, these individuals may serve on the Classification Committee which makes recommendations to the Assistant Deputy Warden/Classification Director for placement of prisoners. The more experiened level may serve as Transfer Coordinator or other Classification Program duties assigned by the Assistant Deputy Warden on an as needed basis. This involves coordinating transfers both into and out of the Egeler Facility and ensuring that prisoners are transferred from the Egeler Facility in a timely manner.

Positions in this class are test-designated and subject to pre-appointment and random-selection drug and alcohol testing.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) with either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their Non-Custody New Employee Training. PLEASE NOTE: Overnight travel may be required for NCNET.
