These programs upskill professionals to expand their impact and meet the workforce needs of Minnesota and beyond. This role manages open enrollment offerings and contracted training, including the instructors, program leads, and vendors that deliver and/or support programs. The Associate Director collaborates with internal teams like business development, enrollment, marketing, registration services, and operations to drive program registrations and serve learners. This position requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to create integrative solutions that ensure the long-term success and financial sustainability of the educational programs. The Associate Director of Professional Development works under general supervision of the Director of Professional Development Programs - Multiweek, but has the discretion to make daily operational decisions, is able to recommend capital and process improvements for Professional Development Programs. This position is hybrid - mostly remote with some on-campus work required. It may require occasional evening and weekend work. Occasional travel to sites in the Twin Cities Metro area and infrequent travel to greater Minnesota and/or out-of-state may be required. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Program Planning, Implementation, and Improvement 30% -Oversee course scheduling and instructor assignments for courses in assigned programs -Collaborate with members of the operations, enrollment, marketing, and registration team to promote, enroll, and deliver programs, and resolve learner inquiries and issues -Evaluate program design, delivery, and outcomes -Recommend, prioritize, and lead projects to improve assigned programs or the broader professional development programs portfolio -Coordinate efforts to achieve and maintain good standing with professional bodies related to assigned programs Program Portfolio Management 25% -Plan, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve a portfolio of non-credit educational programs that meet skill-up needs for professionals in a variety of fields -Maintain awareness of developments in the professional fields related to the assigned portfolio and make recommendations for new programs, program improvement investments, and program closures -Oversee and manage relationships with government entities, professional organizations, industry advisors, and other external stakeholders related to the assigned portfolio of programs -Ensure continued alignment with workforce needs. This includes: managing program advisory networks, keeping current with industry needs, recommending significant program or course revisions, initiating minor program revisions, and proposing new programs. -Prepare budgets and manage the financial performance of the assigned portfolio of programs. Manage Instructional Staff and Vendors 25% -Hire, train, coach, and manage instructors and program leads -Develop a diverse pool of faculty for teaching through recruitment, outreach, and professional collaboration -Provide guidance to instructors based on sound adult education principles and the pedagogical values of the multiweek professional development programs team -Oversee and manage relationships with vendors that provide curriculum, instructional services or other services that support programming Workforce Development Programming 20% -Collaborate with the business development manager to developand maintain relationships with client organizations -Collaborate with the business development manager, registration services, and operations team to assess client needs, develop proposals and write contracts to meet those needs -Serve as the programming point of contact for assigned workforce development clients -Oversee delivery of dedicated courses for clients -Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs in meeting client needs *Please note, we are not offering H-1B or Green Card sponsorship for this position. Qualifications Required -Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 6 or more years of related professional experience or Master's degree from an accredited institution and 4 or more years of related professional experience -Demonstrated knowledge, skill and commitment to creating an inclusive environment that serves a diverse community in a professional setting. -Demonstrated ability to manage education, training, or other learning and development programs -Experience recruiting, supervising, and coaching instructors -Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through critical thinking and collaboration -Demonstrated ability to make strategic decisions or recommendations that lead to long-term business and/or mission success -Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms -Demonstrated ability to use office software and collaboration tools such Microsoft Office software, Google Collaboration Tools, and Zoom.
