Job Brief: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Data Center Technicians will be responsible for the break-fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays. They should be familiar with interpreting BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for and have a strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.
Responsibilities:
Perform tasks listed under Level 1, Level 2,
o Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.
o Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.
o Install servers and switches and cable them according to the provided wire maps.
o Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.
o Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.
o Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).
o Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.
o Audit servers and consumables.
o Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
o Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
o Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
o Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
o Assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.
o Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.
o Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.
o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
o Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
o Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.
o Serve as the initial contact/liaison between team members and management.
o Prioritize and manage workload across the team.
o Review build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.
o Direct build activities related to data center operations.
o Ensure projects are aligned with data center standards.
o Provide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.
o Manage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.
o Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.
o Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.
o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
o Perform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
Perform break-fix tasks on GPUs, servers, network, and cabling.
Manage tickets using ITSM tools.
Land fully populated GPU or network racks within the data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays.
Interpret BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for.
Install, test, and label copper and fiber infrastructures within the data center.
Handle and install optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP style connectors.
Scope and clean fibers (SC, LC, MPO styles).
Rack and stack equipment within existing racks.
Patch fiber and copper cables.
Lead and manage teams effectively.
Travel as required.
Work with DC power and DC powered equipment.
Provide daily communication and document progress using customer tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.
Work in a Microsoft data center environment.
Familiar with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise-level data centers.
Requirements:
1-2+ years of deployment and/or break-fix experience in a data center.
Understanding of landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment.
knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.
Experience with handling and installing optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP style connectors.
Experience with scoping and cleaning fibers (SC, LC, MPO styles).
Experience with racking and stacking equipment within existing racks.
Experience with patching fiber and copper cables.
Proven experience in leading teams.
Willingness to travel as required.
Experience with DC power and DC powered equipment.
Strong communication skills and ability to document progress using customer tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.
Experience working in a Microsoft data center environment.
Familiarity with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise-level data centers.

Onsite in Mt. Pleasant, WI -Seeking a team based out of the South Eastern Wisconsin area who will be focused on GPU cluster deployments within MKE 03 and 04, Mt Pleasant, WI. Multiple resources across all 4 core MSFT shifts (A/B/Days/Nights) on a 3x4x12 schedule

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.80/hr.
