Summary You will serve as a ELECTRICIAN LEADER (EXPERT) in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will keep supervisor informed of potential problems, controversial issues, and recommend corrective actions. You will pass instructions received from supervisors and provide overview of tasks to be performed to other workers. You will inspect completed and in process work for quality of workmanship and adhere to requirements, specifications, standards, plans and schedules. You will inspect work, identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions as well as identify cumbersome work practices, target improvement actions and develop product work books to codify efficient or best practices. You will perform research to continually improve trade processes and keep shot personnel apprised of new technologies and procedures associated with electrical work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Ability to lead, influence, and engage with others to facilitate accomplishment of complex trade operations. Repairing, testing and installing industrial electrical equipment such as transformers, distribution panels, switch gear, automatic and manual bus transfers. Performing installation, maintenance modifications, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of electrical equipment, systems and components. Accomplishing diagnostic troubleshooting techniques to isolate faults using a wide variety of sophisticated test equipment. * Ability to recognize possible safety hazards and take steps to eliminate or control hazards.
