Position Overview The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the Controller and ensuring the financial accuracy and operational efficiency of the company. This role manages end-to-end customer financial transactions; including customer, job, and quote setup; invoicing; and cash applications while also contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and the month-end close process. Additionally, the Assistant Controller helps maintain and improve accounting systems and internal processes and serves as a backup to the Controller by assisting with cash management, banking, compliance, budgeting, and system upgrades. Key Responsibilities Customer & Job Management Set up customers and jobs in QuickBooks Collaborate with WI and IL project teams to enter quotes, manage job progress, and ensure accurate billing Process and apply customer payments, ensuring deposits are timely and accurate Resolve billing discrepancies or customer inquiries in coordination with project managers Financial Operations & Reporting Support monthly close: enter journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and perform variance analysis Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and dashboards for leadership Assist with the development and maintenance of financial templates, forecasting tools, and reporting models Conduct profitability analysis by job, customer, or division as requested Process Improvement & Internal Controls Support the development and implementation of standardized accounting processes and internal controls Identify areas for improvement in accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across accounting workflows Document accounting procedures and assist in creating internal SOPs Business & System Support Serve as a back-up to the Controller, gaining exposure to: o Cash management and banking relationships o Sales and use tax compliance o Budget creation and financial planning o General ledger oversight o External audit support and documentation Participate in system implementations, including payroll and ERP/accounting software conversions Help coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed Assist with fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure reporting ** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) 3+ years of accounting experience (construction industry experience is a plus) Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability ** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: E-Mail a Rsum: hr@wwssg.com E-Mail a Work Application: hr@wwssg.com
