The Construction Technologist is a key member of Rockford's Information Technology team, responsible for bridging the gap between construction operations and technology. This role combines the analytical mindset of a Business Analyst with hands-on knowledge of construction processes, particularly within a construction management setting. The Construction Technologist will partner closely with Rockford's Market Leaders, Operations and Preconstruction teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement technology solutions that enhance safety, accuracy, timeliness, quality, and efficiency across our projects.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with construction Market Leaders, Operations, Preconstruction, and IT teams to analyze existing business processes and decompose them into their constituent parts.
Identify opportunities to improve processes for speed, accuracy, efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
Collaborate with IT specialists to design and implement technology-enabled solutions that align with business needs and strategic goals.
Act as a liaison between construction teams and IT, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and adoption of tools and processes.
Evaluate, pilot, and recommend construction technologies that deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control.
Support training and change management efforts to ensure new technologies are successfully integrated into daily operations.
Stay current on trends in construction technology and bring forward innovative ideas to maintain Rockford's competitive edge.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
3+ years of experience in a construction environment (general contractor preferred), with exposure to business development, preconstruction and/or operations.
Demonstrated experience analyzing, documenting and improving business processes, preferably in a Business Analyst or similar role.
Strong understanding of construction workflows, project management practices, and industry terminology.
Familiarity with construction technology platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, BIM tools, scheduling software).
Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Buildr CRM etc.).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational needs into technical requirements.
Demonstrated Ability to use graphical tools to diagram business processes.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Highly collaborative mindset, with proven ability to facilitate alignment between business and technology stakeholders.
Experience researching, evaluating, and implementing new technology solutions to enhance department operations.
Experience in system configuration, reporting, data analytics, and workflow automation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and diagramming tools are a plus.
Familiarity with an iPaaS platform for integrations is a plus.
Familiarization with a Scheduling Software Platform is a plus.

Office Work Environment
The work environment for this position is a typical office environment with occasional construction site visits. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction.
