The Phillips County Extension Office will be accepting applications for the Administrative/4-H Program Assistant Position. This job is a full-time position with benefits. This position entails duties as described in the attached job description. The scheduled work week is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. With some exceptions.
You will report to work at the Phillips County Extension Office (located in the basement of the Phillips County Library), under the supervision of the Phillips County Extension Agent. The initial probationary period is six months. If performance is not satisfactory, probationary period may be extended.
Your eligibility for health insurance is not active for the first three months of employment. Currently, Phillips County pays 100% of the premium for the employee and the family.
Sick leave accrues from the beginning of employment but may not be used for three calendar months. Vacation leave accrues from the beginning of employment but may not be used for the first six calendar months. You will be a member of the state retirement program from the beginning of employment: the employer and employee pay this equally.

The Extension Administrative/4-H Program Assistant has a major responsibility in maintaining an efficient and attractive office that will assist the Extension Agent in adequately fulfilling program responsibilities to the clientele of Phillips County. The Assistant must establish and maintain good rapport with Extension clientele and assist in developing a positive image of the Phillips County Extension Service. Due to the nature of the position, confidentiality of Extension information must be maintained. The Extension Administrative/4-H Program Assistant is administratively responsible to the County Extension Agent.
Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma. Requires knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, filing and bookkeeping, a working knowledge of computes, educational materials and agricultural terminology. This position requires skills in typing, business procedures, grammar, compositions and the use of office equipment and computers. Must also be knowledgeable in word processing, QuickBooks, publisher, excel spreadsheets, database, e-mail, internet and willing to learn other software as needed.
A successful applicant will have good organizational, management and communication skills. Ability to work independently and with flexibility and lift 25-50 lbs. Ability to handle stressful situations effectively, to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and the public.
