The Manager, Industrial Hygiene is an experienced professional who plays a critical role in safeguarding the health and well-being of employees across all company operations. This position is responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive industrial hygiene programs designed to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control potential hazards in the workplace that may impact the health of workers. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal occupational health regulations, conducting exposure assessments, recommending control measures, and providing expert guidance to minimize occupational health risks and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
?The Manager, Industrial Hygiene, reports to the Global Director, Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology and is an individual contributor in the organization. The role ensures compliance with industrial hygiene programs, as well as with governmental regulations and company standards and best practices, with fairness and consistency in a timely manner. The role closely partners with the Health and Safety leadership to address complex Industrial Hygiene issues and collaborates with various departments. The role ensures maintenance of accurate documentation and prepares reports for senior review. The role has expertise in interpreting and administering departmental policies, analyzing trends, and providing expert guidance to further contribute to fostering a compliant and ethical work environment.
What you'll do...
Provide support for facilities to resolve IH-related issues when they arise
Conduct comprehensive industrial hygiene risk assessments to identify employee exposures to potentially hazardous chemicals, physical agents and processes
Manage projects performed by consultants to ensure completeness of Industrial Hygiene assessments and sampling to evaluate potential risks, including development of sampling plans, acceptance of proposals, scheduling of work, and overseeing project budgets
Interpret results of evaluations, report conclusions, and evaluate effectiveness of control measures.
In cases where exposures are not acceptable, investigate and provide recommendations for controls
Lead OHS standard writing process for Industrial Hygiene related topics
Participate as a Technical Review Committee member for health and safety standards
Attend and contribute to global meetings pertaining to Industrial Hygiene
Communicate information/requirements to regional health and safety teams
Support regional compliance with the OHS Industrial Hygiene (IH) standards
Interface with Corporate Safety teams and Toxicology trends and identify areas for improvement or intervention.
You'll have...
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree or Master's Degree (preferred) in Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Health, or a related discipline
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of work experience with a Master's degree or 8 years of work experience with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Industrial Hygiene or a related field.
Competencies:
Understanding of industrial hygiene related hazards, exposure assessments and controls, including chemicals, noise, lasers, radiation, confined space, drinking water, respirators, heat stress, and knowledge of applicable regulatory requirement
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations for countries in the region
Possess necessary skills to manage industrial hygiene programs for the region
Strong written, computer, data analysis and interpersonal communication skills required
Proficient in English
Work Requirements:
Involves occasional (defined as up to one third of the time) lifting of more than 10 to 25 pounds. Work performed requires a good deal of walking or standing and may include some sedentary work and working conditions that include moderate noise levels related to the use of office equipment or machinery. May involve exposure to varying outside temperatures and occasional use of personal protective equipment.
