Job Title: Staff AccountantJob Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the monthly reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet and bank accounts. This role involves preparing recurring and ad-hoc journal entries for the month-end close. The position also supports the accounts receivable teams in processing adjustments, assists in the annual audit, and maintains accounting documentation. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills and be detail-oriented, organized, professional, accountable, and action-oriented.

Responsibilities

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis, including bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and other assets.

Prepare and enter monthly journal entries.

Process accounts receivable adjustments.

Maintain accounting process documentation.

Assist with the annual audit.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

1-3 years of experience in the accounting field preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel.

Strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of duties.

Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, innovation, and urgency.

Ability to meet tight deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.

Knowledge of general ledger, reconciliation, month-end processes, journal entry, financial reporting, and GAAP.

Exposure to international/global company processes.

Work Environment

The position is based in a cubicle environment. The role requires the use of standard office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft. The work environment is professional, requiring business attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
