Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Electrician with extensive knowledge and experience in troubleshooting industrial electronic controls at a component level. The role involves working with VFDs, DC drives, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and associated wiring for industrial conveyors, barges, e-cranes, and heavy equipment in a shipping/barge company. The successful candidate will support operations through the installation, programming, start-up, and maintenance of electrical, automation, and process control equipment.

Responsibilities

Install, program, calibrate, and maintain electrical and automation equipment to improve and reduce total operating costs.

Perform electrical preventive maintenance and repairs on overhead cranes, gantry cranes, bridge cranes, stormwater drain pumps, sewage pumps, generators, building lights, and all terminal equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair equipment and instrumentation related to the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of cargo including conveying equipment, motors, GE drive, PLCs, VFDs, and associated wiring and power supplies.

Assist in high voltage outage and preventive maintenance, as well as mechanical repairs when needed.

Support modernization projects for new equipment and be open to schedule flexibility, including potential travel to greater New Orleans area sites outside of Avondale if needed.

Essential Skills

High-level knowledge and experience in troubleshooting industrial electronic controls.

Strong PLC troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of Ohm's Law.

Experience with Emerson (formerly GE) RX3i controllers and Machine Edition software preferred.

Ability to attain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Basic mechanical industry knowledge, especially regarding medium to large drive couplings, brakes, and reduction gearboxes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to work from blueprints, wiring schematics, manuals, or verbal instructions.

Industrial technology knowledge with electrical knowledge diverse enough to support all @types of equipment systems, including Emerson PLCs, Control Techniques VFDs and DC Drives.

Experience with medium voltage motors and starters preferred.

Journeyman or master electrician credentials, and commissioning experience.

Willingness to work extra hours or a flexible schedule.

Work Environment

The work environment requires meeting 'fit for duty' requirements, including pre-employment physical and drug tests. The role involves physical activities such as walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, and negotiating uneven and moving surfaces. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights up to 130 feet is necessary. Work is performed in a dusty environment and all @types of temperature/weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Direct hire - Full benefits package can be requested during the interview process.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in New Orleans,LA.
