Summary
You will serve as an Electrician in the Waterfront Services Division, Code 340 - Repair Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Duties
Help
You will provide temporary electrical, fluid and ventilation systems services to Trident submarines and other US Navy ships moored or docked at TRF Bangor, to shore-side facilities, to other TRF shops and to other locations as assigned.
You will connect temporary service equipment such as: Hydro blasters, welding equipment, media blast equipment, painting equipment, high-pressure air compressors (HPACs), and temporary structures.
You will design, construct, maintain, install, groom, uninstall, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and stow any equipment, service or system in the Temporary Service Shop area of responsibility, as assigned.
You will stand watch over and operate equipment to flood and dewater the drydock and to deballast and ballast the caisson, observe gages, meters, and other indications, making adjustments and notifications as required.
You will accurately and correctly make all required equipment operating log entries including run times, electrical current flow, pressures, flowrates, etc.
You will operate systems such as caisson ballasting and deballasting, artesian pressure relief, seismic monitoring, floor drainage, saltwater leakage, storm drainage, drydock flooding, drydock superflooding, and drydock dewatering.
You will design, manufacture, assemble, inspect, service, clean, test, maintain, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and reassemble electrical equipment such as cable lugs, plugs, splices, amphenols and receptacles, transformers, load centers...

You will design, manufacture, layout, cut, bend, assemble, inspect, service, clean, test, maintain, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair and reassemble piping, hose, and ventilation equipment such as SOD, CHT, and ASW cooling hoses and flanges...
...firefighting water/breathing air/industrial tool air/ventilation systems, pressure regulators, flowmeters, valve assemblies, check/freeze protection bleeder valves, submersible pumps, diesel seawater (DSW) hoses/fittings, sonar dome fill filters.
You will inspect, service and hydrostatically test firefighting water systems, breathing air hoses, industrial tool air hoses, SOD hoses, CHT hoses, ASW hoses, etc., and clean, inspect, and chlorinate potable water hoses.
You will maintain all records and logs pertaining to the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of any equipment within the Temporary Service Shop area of responsibility as required.
You will research, order, receive, catalog, package and store repair parts and other equipment as required, and clean, groom and organize Temporary Service shop to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
You will stage required equipment and prepare shore power and other required services for the arrival of a submarine or other vessel pierside, in the drydock, or in the Explosives Handling Wharf (EHW1 or EHW2).
You will provide initial mooring services upon arrival including shore power, SOD, CHT, compensating water, potable water, flushing water, telephone, etc.
You will correctly label, run, groom, connect and energize various temporary refit services to ships and shipboard jobsites including temporary power, lighting, compressed tool/breathing air, ventilation, dewatering and firefighting equipment, etc.
You will correctly deenergize, uninstall, and return all Temporary Service Shop equipment when it is no longer required at the jobsite, and clean, groom, and organize jobsites/locations to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
You will perform as Gasfree Technician, verify and certify that the atmosphere/physical conditions inside confined and poorly ventilated enclosed
spaces meet requirements to safely perform required work and correctly tag/document the certification.
You will perform as an Emergency Responder in accordance with the Temporary Service shop's process instruction and the Industrial Ship Safety Manual for Fire Protection and Response.
You will have thorough knowledge of high temperature and high-pressure fluid systems and the skill to test, repair, modify, and check piping systems and equipment, and test, troubleshoot, and safely correct leaks.

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to achieve and maintain qualification as Waterfront Services Craftsman and Command Board Certification as Drydock Pumproom and Caisson Operator.
You will be required to work onboard ships.
You will be required to work in small and/or confined spaces.
You will be required to lift/carry loads up to 50 pounds in weight.
You will need to be able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
You will need to have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
