Manager, Business Operations, Global Network Services North America
Global Network Services
Global Network Services (GNS) is responsible for the card issuing and merchant acquiring partnerships that comprise the American Express Network. GNS operates in many geographies across the world and GNS partners issue over 60 million cards on the Amex Network.
GNS North America is focused on owning and managing issuing partnerships that drive complementary scale and relevance for American Express in the US and Canada. The GNS North America team manages a portfolio of existing bank partnerships (e.g., Bread Financial, Credit One, Navy Fed, USAA) and cobrands (e.g., Coinbase, Rakuten, Fetch Rewards, Macy's, NASCAR, Square).
This is a high impact opportunity responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong compliance and control framework. This role will require ensuring strict adherence to our SOP, regulatory requirements and industry best practices. By proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, this role will help GNS North America operate in a compliant way in line with our risk and controls framework.
This high visibility role will sit in the GNS North America executive office reporting into the Director Assistant.
Specifically, this role will have the following roles & responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
Lead the strengthening of our risk culture and elevate our risk management infrastructure.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal audit and regulatory inquiries related to TPP compliance.
Lead internal audit and regulatory engagements, managing partner lists, Operational Risk Events (ORE) reporting, rolling out our Customer Relationship Management tool.
Interpret and implement regulatory changes into actionable oversight frameworks and partner engagement strategies.
Partner Oversight & Risk Management
Collaborate with GNS North America (NA) Existing Partnership teams and New Business Development ensuring compliance and adherence to standard processes for their respective Partners
Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of third-party relationships, categorized by risk assessment and role, partnering closely with internal partner teams (2LOD, Due Diligence Operations, PBS Business Operations etc.) to ensure adequate controls and ratings are in place
Lead the management and amendments to GNS Standard Operating Procedures, garnering feedback from business teams and partnering with central team on refreshes and updates
Lead the RCSA process as a Risk & Control Tester and Owner
Collaborate with Risk and Legal to assess and mitigate operational and reputational risks
Strategic Enablement & Cross-Functional Leadership
Represent North America in global compliance forums and contribute to enterprise-wide governance initiatives.
Liaise and participate as part of cross-functional "deal teams" to address complex enablement requirements and negotiate partner-specific solutions.
Ideal Qualifications:
Audit experience or second line of business risk management experience
Experience designing and following well-controlled, auditable processes
Proven project management skills to design and deliver key changes
Careful attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to get results, think strategically and globally
Highly motivated self-starter with ability to juggle multiple tasks with excellent organization skills
Proven ability to understand complex end-to-end processes including compliance frameworks, standard operating procedures, and diligence protocols
Strong relationship management skills
Ability to take complex technical information and translate it into clear communications (presentations/memos) for a variety of audiences
Enthusiastic person with a track record that demonstrates ability to drive results and execute
Extensive knowledge and experience of AXP operations, systems, network policies & procedures
Understanding of card issuing and technical aspects of operating a payments network
Self-starter. Ability to drive results through others in large challenging and complex organizations
Ability to project the Blue Box in a professional manner with external partners
Qualifications
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
