SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Academy Trainer is responsible for providing training to ATS employees. Instructs new hires in technical training and required customer courses. Assists new hires with Computer Based Training (CBTs) and verifies all coursework is complete and recorded in the learning management system. Supports Apprentice training and development in the classroom and in the hangar.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Level I:
Provides initial training to Apprentice Technicians to meet ATS, FAA, and Customer training requirements.
Utilizes the instruction techniques of lecture, video, computer-based training (CBT), electronic forums, demonstration, and testing to impart the required knowledge to a diverse population as outlined in the training objectives, while being sensitive to individual needs.
Uses the learning management system to verify course completion.
Assists with the development of technical course materials.
Evaluates student performance at specified intervals and provides relevant feedback, reinforcing positive student performance.
Assists with all processes related to ATS Apprenticeship Program to support ATS workforce development.
Promotes company and department policies in classroom ensuring compliance with all health and safety requirements.
Level II: (in addition to Level I)
Develops and provides ongoing classroom training, including customer, aircraft and other technical courses.
Utilizes the learning management system to develop tracking of course progression and completion.
Develops and assigns appropriate OJT packets to ensure that each apprentice's skills consistently improve and mature.
Works with Lead Mechanics and Supervisors to develop OJT training plans for each Apprentice Technician to ensure continuous progress is made on their individual "Flight Path."
Provides skills training and observation of trainees regarding performance and demonstration of the ATS Values.
Provides hands-on training at training facility.
Provides regular coaching and feedback for Apprentice Technicians.
Provides regular feedback to ops leadership regarding the progress of apprentices and technicians, recommending changes as needed.
Supports all technician levels who need clarification or additional assistance in understanding their job responsibilities.
Coordinates all training activities with Training department leadership.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Level I:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintaining aircraft or aircraft components required.
Previous experience with adult learning, course design, and class evaluation process preferred.
Repairman, Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate preferred.
Level II:
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in commercial aviation; or four (4) years as an instructor in a commercial aircraft maintenance or aviation maintenance technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience with adult learning, course design, and class evaluation process preferred.
Repairman, Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close. The employee will also be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
COMPENSATION
The base pay range for this position is; Level I: $26.38 - $39.57 hourly, Level II: $78k - $99k annually, not including bonuses or benefits. Your pay will be based on your experience, skills, and education, as well as internal equity to ensure fairness across the team. Candidates closer to the lower end of the range are typically building their expertise, while those at the higher end bring significant experience and specialized knowledge. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
