Job Description

Join a dynamic and fast-paced medical practice as a Medical Office Assistant, where you will be integral in providing exemplary patient experiences. Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure efficient operation and patient satisfaction, while contributing to the growth of our leading gastroenterology practice.

Responsibilities

Schedule procedure and office visit appointments following established policies and scripts.

Update insurance and demographic information during appointment scheduling.

Obtain cardiac clearance for patients scheduled for procedures when necessary and ensure documentation is complete.

Assist with general office functions at the request of site supervisors or managers.

Provide support to other staff members to ensure proper patient care and smooth office operations.

Answer incoming phone lines, take clear and concise messages, and route messages appropriately.

Compose, process, and follow-up on electronic phone messages and alerts.

Maintain familiarity with providers' preferred preparation methods.

Essential Skills

Customer service skills

Experience in healthcare and medical scheduling

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EPIC, and EMR systems

Ability to verify insurance and handle patient scheduling

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills

Problem-solving ability and multitasking proficiency

Experience working in a high-paced and occasionally stressful environment

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

At least 2 years of related experience required

GI experience is a significant advantage

Warm and inviting demeanor with a patient-centered approach

Team player with the initiative to ensure patient care and task completion

Work Environment

Work in a busy outpatient GI medical practice with flexible scheduling options. You will be part of a vibrant team in a supportive and professional environment, handling upwards of 20 incoming and outgoing calls and serving about 40 patients daily. The work schedule includes up to 24 hours a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with flexibility to start as late as 9 AM or finish as early as 5 PM. This position is based out of Trumbull, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
