Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont, Inc. Job Title:* Truck Driver FLSA: Non-Exempt Full-time *Weekend shifts are required Position Summary Immediate position available for a full-time truck driver for routes between our warehouse in Pittsfield, MA and Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont store locations, providing store deliveries and pick-ups, and accurate truck records. Driver must operate 26 foot box truck weekends and several days during the week, making deliveries and pick-ups at our retail locations and donation centers. Essential Functions Statement: - Safeguards all donations and company property from damage and theft. Treats all donations and company property with respect and care. Assists donors when present and necessary. - Reads maps, operates navigational tools and follows written and verbal geographic directions. - Maintains records such as Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRS) and daily Trip Sheets according to all State and Federal laws and company procedures. - Provides basic direction and redirection if assigned a Truck Helper. - Completing all daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicles, immediately reporting any supply needs, equipment needs/issues and any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles to Dispatch or a Transportation Management member. - Safely and efficiently loads and unloads truck, vehicles, containers and trailers. Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or with the use of a hand truck, lift gate and/or pallet jack. - Maintains communication with Warehouse, calling at each stop and at scheduled times throughout the day. - Safely and efficiently pads, stacks, and secures items in position on the truck to prevent damage during transit. - Abides by all safety procedures and policies at all times. Reports any safety concerns immediately to on-site management or immediate supervisor. - Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed or assigned. Minimum Education and/or Age Requirements: - High School Diploma preferred, or basic knowledge of skills, mathematical, etc. - Full use of entire body, to lift, carries, etc. - DOT clearance & Valid driving permit, void of any violations. - Able to carry out simple instructions to complete the task. - Able to lift up to 50 pounds. - Forklift and/or Pallet Jack certification a plus - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - Ability to work independently while at the same time fostering strong team atmosphere and positive promotion of agency. - Must be able to speak and understand English. - Ability to work with a diverse staff, customer base, and individuals with disabilities is essential. - Ability to determine when to direct a problem situation to a supervisor required. - Requires acceptable results of CORI check according to Goodwill policy and requirements Benefits: - Dental insurance - Health insurance - Paid sick time - Paid time off - Paid training People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
