Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY: Functions as the director of inpatient rehab to include physician therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy areas. Responsible for oversight of all clinical aspects within these disciplines. Interacts with all departments, staff, and patients in a professional, ethical fashion with exceptional quality of care being the expectation at all times. The department functions seven days per week.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Develops appropriate, functional and measurable goals and a plan of treatment based on input from the patient/family.
Performs a variety of techniques to improve function, tone, strength, ROM, balance, etc.
Utilizes positioning as a technique to prevent or reduce deformities and/or promote function.
Assesses indications for, fit of, and proper use of orthotics/prosthetics.
Assist with patient caseload according dept needs/census.
Recognizes and incorporates specific precautions into patient's treatment program.
Monitors vital signs should the patient's medical condition warrants it.
Completes all appropriate documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Follows all professional code of ethics and standards of practice.
Completes all pertinent documentation in initial evaluation, progress notes, discharge summaries and daily charges within a timely manner.
Willingly accepts work assignments in a flexible and positive manner.
Discusses patient's status and needs with patient, health care providers as appropriate, in order to assure appropriate care.
Provides adequate direction and supervision to support personnel and students.
Functions as preceptor for customer service standards with staff as needed.
Leads by example and inspires employees to highest potential.
Assists in maintaining/scheduling sufficient qualified and competent staff to provide care or service.
Assists in providing comprehensive department and job-specific orientation & in-service training and maintains appropriate documentation.
Observes services provided by staff and reviews patient records for appropriate/timely documentation.
Completes annual performance evaluations on staff, as appropriate.
Coordinates patient assignments to ensure continuity, appropriate level of care and maximum utilization of personnel.
Performs other related functions as assigned.

Bachelors Degree
