The Team: ?
The Motorsports Vehicle Dynamics XiL Engineering Team leads the development and implementation of the Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) Simulator program for GM Motorsports. Our focus is on advancing simulation capabilities that support vehicle development and driver performance. Key areas of work include:
Enhancing driver immersion for realistic simulation experiences
Integrating vehicle models and real-world data into the simulator
Developing and deploying next-generation simulation technologies
This team operates at the intersection of motorsports, engineering innovation, and cutting-edge simulation - providing critical tools to support competitive success on the track.
What You'll Do: ??
During the summer internship students will take on projects supporting the Driver-in-the-Loop Simulator program at Charlotte Tech Center.
Projects may include:
Implementing new hardware systems, including cockpit upgrades and driver immersion enhancements
Analyzing and correlating simulator performance with real-world track data
Developing scripts to automate DiL processes
Enhancing network infrastructure, improving data storage solutions, and supporting documentation efforts
Required Qualifications: ????
Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
Must be graduating between December 2026 and June 2028
Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months
