The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master's Degree (27 months program). The Learning Resource Center is searching for an individual to serve as an Academic Research Center Specialist. They will evaluate students' academic progress, provide recommendations to improve individual test taking, studying skills, and learning methods throughout the course of the program; and they will also help coordinate and communicate educational expectations to students. The Specialist will report to the Director of the Learning Resource Center.
In addition to the above information and CUNY overview below, the Events Media Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Develop individualized academic support plans based on curriculum content, including Core Instruction, Program Learning Objectives (PLOs), Course Goals, and Course Learning Objectives (CLOs).
Evaluate student performance through review of coursework, learning assessments, and representative samples of academic output.
Provide academic coaching, study strategies, and test preparation materials for both school-wide and state-mandated exams.
Assist students in lesson planning and content mastery, especially in challenging didactic and clinical courses.
Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance records, portfolios, and progress reports; order and manage educational materials as needed.
Serve as a liaison for students by disseminating school-related updates and referring students to institutional support services, including the Learning Resource Center, Wellness Center, and Student Affairs.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to address students' academic, personal, or health-related challenges through individualized Accountability Plans.
Engage in ongoing professional development through institutional and external training opportunities.
Attend community and campus events, including orientation and field trips; serve as an academic advisor to professional students.
Contribute to program functions such as admissions, student evaluation, accreditation preparation, and participation in Student Study Teams (SST) or special education meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Learning Resource Center or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
PREFERRED:
A Master's Degree or higher in a related field
Experience in delivering Higher Education Academic/Educational Skills for Health Care Professionals and/or related fields.
Use technology in an effective manner for teaching, communicating, analyzing, and reporting
Familiarity with the NCCPA, PANCE Blueprint, PACKRAT Exams, Exam Master, and other standardized test

Serves as resource expert for students and faculty regarding center policies and procedures, and if needed, technology issues related to their learning experience
May assist and/or supervise office operations and/or department budget

Salary Range: $68,364- $79,598
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
