DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department seeks an energetic, self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, customer-service driven individual with superior interpersonal and communication skills as to join the Financial Services team.
Responsibilities
Performs a variety of entry-level professional accounting duties, such as processing all payments (Vendor Invoices, Contractor Payroll, Sports Contractor Payroll, Travel Advances and Liquidation, Travel/Milage reimbursements and other misc. payments)
Process all A/P Payments for the department. Adhere to the vendor payment terms in SAP Vendor Display table to ensure payments are timely and accurate. Maintains the department's A/P invoices for archiving.
Create ad hoc reports for Service Release Orders (SROs) and Good Receipts/Invoice Receipts (GR/IR).
Work with Controllers Office to clear the GR/IR balances at the fiscal year end.
Collects performance measures from each division and compiles the data to be submitted included in the Monthly Financial Operating Report (MFOR).
Communicates the best resolution for invoices payments and billing discrepancies to vendors.
Responds to the Internal/External auditors for AP payment inquiries for the Single Audit.
Demonstrates the ability to interact and communicate with Internal/External customers via emails, phone or TEAMS Meeting.
Create and execute purchasing requisitions for Management and Finance division.
Must be technically savvy and adapt. Candidate must be able to create and streamline processes.
Assist with pick up, collection, and distribution of departmental mail.
Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field such as Finance.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is required.
Four years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement. An Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field and two years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Preference will be given to individual who is a critical thinker, strong in analytical work, highly adaptable, calm under pressure, cooperative, team-player and possesses the initiative and independence to identify solutions. The ability to work fast, with minimal supervision, and produce required results timely is essential. Highly preferred to have a valid Texas driver's license.
