Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in New York, New York. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accuracy in recordkeeping, and supporting the overall accounting operations. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting and clerical work who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Record, track, and maintain accurate financial transactions, including invoices and expense reports.

Reconcile accounts regularly and address discrepancies to ensure financial records are up-to-date.

Assist in handling accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoice and payment processing.

Prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements to verify accuracy.

Support month-end and year-end closing activities by completing assigned tasks efficiently.

Organize and preserve both digital and physical records of financial transactions and documentation.

Communicate professionally with vendors, clients, and internal teams to resolve financial inquiries or issues.

Perform data entry tasks with a focus on accuracy and update the general ledger as needed.

Provide backup assistance to other accounting personnel during peak periods or absences. Requirements - Proven experience in an accounting or clerical role, demonstrating proficiency in daily financial tasks.

Skilled in using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Microsoft Dynamics, along with Office Suite tools, especially Excel.

Familiarity with fundamental accounting principles and financial recordkeeping practices.

Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities to address financial discrepancies.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.

High attention to detail and precision in data entry and financial documentation.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
