Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy, and addressing backlogged reconciliations. Responsibilities:

Oversee and execute month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Perform detailed account reconciliations, addressing any discrepancies and ensuring compliance.

Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve variances.

Assist in reviewing and cleaning up prior financial backlogs and unresolved reconciliations.

Collaborate on special financial projects as assigned to improve overall accounting operations.

Ensure adherence to municipal accounting standards and regulations.

Provide insights and recommendations to streamline accounting procedures and enhance efficiency.

Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.

Strong expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger management.

Proficiency in preparing accurate journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliation and resolving financial variances.

Familiarity with municipal accounting standards and practices is highly desirable.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Advanced knowledge of accounting software and tools.
