Construction Manager
Location(s): South Louisiana
Various construction sites in the client's service territory for the duration of multiple projects (est.2-3 years).
Roles and Responsibilities
To act as the Owner's representative in the project areas. To oversee all aspects of the transmission facilities construction including interconnect, status reporting, owner-purchased material, monitoring safety, startup and commissioning, and project closeout. This position is responsible for the overall management of the assigned project area, to ensure compliance with required budgetary, scheduling, and quality goals. Employees in this role coordinate and report on the construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site. This position is a field position and may require extensive travel. Successful candidate will have 10 or more years of proven field experience, computer skills to properly fill out daily and weekly reports as well as monitor the reports of others for accuracy and completeness. Be capable of photo documentation with working knowledge of Word and Excel.
Required Skills & Experience
Included but not limited to;
Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience in transmission Operations, substation operations, Construction, Engineering, or equivalent education
Detailed knowledge and a proven record of successful transmission construction work, foundation installation, structure assembly and erection, wire stringing and sagging, and all aspects of Transmission facilities, are all strongly preferred. Substation construction experience is preferred but not required
Develops, revises, and maintains construction schedules and detailed construction sequence documents to ensure facilities are constructed and operated in accordance with the Owner's design and specifications
Construction Management duties are not limited to, but will include verification of construction progress, change orders and schedule management
Review and respond effectively to project critical issues
Assist in Project-related system (line/equipment) outage planning and coordination
Ability to read and review drawings and identify the required bill of materials
Communicates effectively on overall project status and maintains relationships with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to resolve construction and coordination issues
Prioritizes and regularly reprioritizes multiple tasks to maintain project schedules
Coordinate and participate on various meetings such as pre-bid, pre-construction, customer-related, etc. Comprehensive understanding of the potential that construction activities can have on system reliability
Must have current and valid driver's license
Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and comparing with the customer or engineers' standards
Proficient in both verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate well with others at all levels of the organization
Will prepare detailed reports and present to the management in an organized, clear, and concise manner
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and Primavera 6
Physical Requirements
Included but not limited to;
This job may require you to work up to 12hr days, up to 7 days a week if project requires
Able and willing to travel and stay for a minimum of 6 weeks at a time for a project
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions for up to 12hrs a day
Must be able to wear company provided PPE for the entire shift while onsite
Able to lift a minimum of 30lbs or more at any given time throughout the day
Must be able to walk on average 3+ miles per day across rough terrain and/or unlevel surfaces
Ability to step in and out of a 3/4-ton pickup truck several times a day

Job Responsibilities
Supports the management of POWER's Project Quality Program (PQP) on the project
Review, understand and ensure project specifications are available to and followed by contractors
Implement and monitor quality control programs to ensure all aspects of project are installed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and requirements
Work with owner and contractor reps to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site
Lead POWER's field services team on the assigned project and serve as the primary interface with the client
Responsible for site personnel following established safety processes
Lead project team in the areas of compliance with, environmental regulations, OSHA safety regulations, project quality plan, and other applicable regulations
Lead and facilitate the project team's familiarity with and learning of contract terms to administrative and all other project staff, contractors, and all others representing the owner
Build, lead, and manage an internal work force and project team
Facilitate the investigation of damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper procedures are being adhered to
Steward contractors and site personnel to follow quality construction methods, safe work practices, and schedule delivery
Serves as the lead on a project and/or has management oversight & responsibility
Administer contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with all consultants/inspection, testing services, clients, suppliers and contractors
Monitor the contractor's implementation of the material management plan
Prepare and/or collaborate with PM to prepare and submit budget estimates and progress of cost tracking reports
Initiate, mediate (as necessary) and steward change management process
Ensure all submittals including CC receipts are done so to meet deadlines
Expected to work with project leadership to deliver the project in logical steps and ensure project remains on schedule
Assist owner in identifying and obtaining (as directed) all necessary permits and licenses required for uninterrupted construction
Serve as mediator between owner and contractor(s) while facilitating/promoting harmonious interaction aimed at delivering project goals
Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
