Summary Serves as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for expendable (EX) assets/material in a (VAHCS) and supported catchment area. Supervises multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system as well as the micro-purchase program. Occupies a major position on the Facility Logistics Service staff and is critical to the operations of the medical center and supported catchment area. Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Oversees the inventory management, control and distribution of expendable inventory for a VA HCS and supported catchment area. Ensures maximum effectiveness in the management of inventories. Establishes reporting techniques to foresee any potential problems in Supply control. Develops strategies for implementing all future EX automated replacement systems, supply technologies and/or business practices related to Commodity Management Section functions. Ensures the use of best practices, principles and tools, concepts and methodologies to determine and valuate supply system performance. Conducts site visits to supported services off-site to ensure inventory accountability and control. Supports other elements of the organization and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/09/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Analyze, coordinate, and control management of stock items to support preparation of long range forecasts necessary to support new requirements, Monitor and manage multiple inventory fund control points, Determine the best purchasing and payment method to utilize, Identify opportunities for and direct analysis of potential cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements, Direct periodic inventories to identify potential shrinkage issues or supply chain discrepancies. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
