Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children andadultswith intellectual disabilities,Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.Locatedat ourDay AcademyinHighland,NY, this positionis responsible forfacilitatingthe development and rehabilitation of students by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy.The OT will:
Meet the student's goals and needs and provide quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and testresults, anddetermineoccupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with treatment team.
Help students develop and/or regain physical/mental functioning oradjustingto disabilities by implementing programs.
Promotemaximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physicalcapacity, intelligence level, and interest.
Evaluateresults of occupational therapy byobserving, noting,and evaluating students' progress;they will alsorecommendand implementadjustments and modifications.
Consultwith physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers, as well ascontribute to student conferences.
Based Salary: $82,649.84 (plus 1% per year experience as an OT, up to 7%)

Qualifications
Education:MS in Occupational Therapy. Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (AOTCB) and licensure by the NYS Education Departmentrequired. OTR/L
Experience: Six to nine months of related field experiencerequired; one year preferred
Physical Requirements: Ability to administer CPR. Ability to administer first aid. Ability to properly implement physical intervention techniques. Ability to create andmaintaina therapeuticmilieu.Regularlyrequires walking, standing, bending, repetitive wrist/hand movement, and pushing/pulling (1/2 to 3/4 of the workday). Regularly requires sitting. May requirelifting upto 50 lbs. (1/4 of the workday).
