What you'll do...
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the monthly close process, ensuring adherence to GAAP and SEC regulations, and maintaining internal controls. This position will also work closely with Accounting Directors to conduct transaction-specific research primarily related to the DIY channel. This position requires the ability to dig into a large data set, identify data discrepancies, coordinate with impacted teams and resolve the issues identified. In addition, this position will be involved SOX controls, account reconciliations, and various analysis of monthly financial results and account specific information. This position will collaborate frequently with other groups within H&R Block, including operational business owners, Information Technology, Corporate Tax, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis.
Day to day you'll...
Assist in the monthly financial statement close process for various lines of business. Ensure compliance with overall monthly close calendar. Directly responsible for the review and analysis of data prepared by the Accounting team and the Financial Planning & Analysis team. Review all ledger activity for completeness and appropriateness
Review variance analysis. Participate in monthly financial statement meetings to review and approve the financial statements
Coordinate the preparation and review of account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Focus on continuous improvement to the existing reconciliation process, including the level of detail included on reconciliation and timely follow-up on reconciling items. Ensure adherence to account reconciliation policy
Partner closely with operational business owners to understand contemplated business changes. Discussions could include new business initiatives, accounting treatment of new business initiatives, process improvements, etc.
Lead transaction specific research. Coordinate with necessary impacted teams for resolution
Focus on continuous improvement. Identify and execute new processes to improve efficiency
Assist in the preparation of annual audit schedules, press release schedules and SEC filings
Obtain and report on information from Workday on an ad hoc and routine basis
Perform other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to the team...
A minimum of five years accounting experience to include supervisory experience in a "Big 4" CPA firm, major regional accounting firm or relevant industry experience
Prior experience in preparing financial statements to include income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, statement of stockholders' equity.
Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures as applied in a public company
Prior experience with understanding and maintaining a strong internal control environment
Working knowledge of automated accounting systems
Prior experience with Workday or other general ledger and consolidation and reporting systems with query, report writing and other user functionality
Strong financial analysis capability
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work effectively with individuals throughout the organization
Ability to partner with offshore accounting resources for successful completion of activities
Ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work for self and subordinates
Ability to review the work of subordinates and members of other departments in a constructive, helpful, and objective manner

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
Pay Range
$80,800.00 - $129,300.00/Yr.
